Rick Harrison Founder
Rick Harrison will be the first one to tell you that he is a book nerd. Debilitated by mal seizures brought on by Epilepsy all throughout his childhood and teens, Rick found relief in books when he was too sick to attend school. He loves to share his unending wealth of knowledge cultivated through a lifetime of reading books and his continuous quest to know more about anything than anyone else in his circle.
At a young age Rick decided he wanted to open a pawnshop but when he went to get a pawn license he was told the city had to reach a population of 250,000 before a new license could be issued. Every month he would dutifully call the city statistician and finally one fateful day in 1988 Las Vegas crossed the mark. Rick was first in line and thus was born the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawnshop.
Rick can spot a fake, drive a hard bargain and use his 30 years of real life and negotiation skills to make a priceless deal or bring a smile to someone’s face with his infectious laugh. Pawn Stars is approaching its 14th season and continues to be a huge hit on History Channel, airing in more than 150 countries and in over 30 languages.
In 2014, Rick was asked to become the national spokesperson for the Epilepsy Foundation, a role he gladly accepted. In addition to his work with the Epilepsy Foundation, Rick oversees a large initiative for Gold & Silver Pawnshop allocating money to dozens of charities.
Dedicated to education, Gold & Silver Pawnshop participates in an “Edu-tainment” program for the students of the Clark County School District where Rick gives the kids a behind-the-scenes tour of the television show Pawn Stars while learning a little bit about history.
